Hope Petrine – Pilates Instructor/Co-owner

HopeAfter 48 years of teaching dance, Hope Petrine found Pilates to be the answer to a career change. She struggled with sciatica off and on for 35 years before being introduced to Pilates in 1996. Since then, her sciatica has been kept in complete remission by practicing Pilates and keeping her core strong. Because Hope was so impressed with how Pilates helped her and wanted to share it with other people, she decided to become a certified teacher. She received her certification in 1998 from Romana Kryzanowska, one of Joseph Pilates original students, through The Pilates Studio. She worked for The Pilates Studio for two years establishing a certification center in Florida, before moving to Colorado. She now owns and operates Pilates of Cherry Creek and runs the teacher certification program. At the age of 69, Hope enjoys skiing, hiking, gardening, Pilates, weight training, and cardio. Sharon Oh-Willeke

SharonSharon has been actively learning and participating in athletic activities all her life. Growing up in Buffalo, NY, Sharon ice skated and skied. On the competitive level, she also swam and rode horses in the hunter/jumper category. While teaching kids to ride, she saw that she could successfully teach people something she knew how to do well and loved to do.

Early career interests took Sharon into the corporate world where she worked for Leo Burnett, a worldwide advertising agency in Chicago. She later switched gears to become an Admission Counselor and International Student Advisor at Mesa State College. While successful at both endeavors, Sharon developed repetitive motion injuries from spending many hours sitting in front of computers. She began to have shoulder and wrist pains and weakness.

Pilates helped Sharon overcome these health issues. She has trained extensively with Deborah Cassel and Hope Petrine at Pilates of Cherry Creek. By dealing with her own difficulties and by teaching others with knee, shoulder, back and hip problems, Sharon has seen firsthand how Pilates can improve health and well-being. She finds working with clients to help them progress towards being stronger, more energetic, leaner and more limber to be very rewarding. As with horseback riding, Sharon thrives on sharing movement techniques with others that she herself practices and adores.

Sharon still swims regularly, runs, bikes and lifts weights. She has a BA in English from Oberlin College and a Master’s Degree in American Studies at the State University of New York/Buffalo.
